Household application checklist

Exact portal requirements and process steps should be confirmed when you apply. A household can prepare by keeping the consumer details and proposed rooftop information consistent.

  • Residential electricity connection and recent bill
  • Applicant identity, bank and consumer details as required
  • Shadow-free roof access and owner permission
  • DISCOM feasibility approval where required
  • Vendor and equipment choices that meet current scheme rules
  • Inspection, commissioning and documentation before subsidy release

Eligibility is decided outside this calculator

This tool cannot check your consumer number, property documents, vendor status, technical feasibility or application stage. A displayed amount is therefore an estimate, not an approval. Use the official portal and your DISCOM for the final decision.

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers, with the important caveats left in.

Who can use the PM Surya Ghar residential subsidy estimate?

Use it for preliminary planning for a residential electricity connection. Actual eligibility depends on current scheme, connection, property, technical and application requirements.

Does choosing a 5 kW system increase the central subsidy?

No. Under the default slabs used here, 3 kW and 5 kW both produce a maximum central subsidy estimate of ₹78,000.

Should I apply before choosing a vendor?

Follow the current sequence published on the official portal and by your DISCOM. Do not rely on this independent site for process sequencing or vendor eligibility.

How accurate is this calculator?

It is a planning estimate based on the values you enter, a state-level solar-yield assumption and the published central subsidy slabs. Shade, roof direction, equipment performance, local tariff design and approval rules can materially change the real outcome.

Is this website official?

No. This is an independent calculator and is not affiliated with the Government of India, MNRE, PM Surya Ghar or any DISCOM. Verify eligibility and subsidy amounts on the official portal and with your DISCOM.
